Economy

Forever renowned for the quality of its products (leather goods, agricultural produce, etc.), the town now has a modern industrial sector chiefly involved in the export context. The leather industry is still very much present, thanks to the setting-up of the luxury leather group LVMH (Vuitton). The textile industry is also present with numerous specialised small to medium-sized enterprises (Regeltex, SOMECO, etc.). Industries manufacturing equipment items have a strong presence, from the aviation industry with SIMCA-AERO-SEAT – the third-largest manufacturer of aeroplane seats in the world – to companies, such as AMCA-NOVAL, the leading European manufacturer of trailers; Spengler, manufacturer of medical devices; and SOCOMETUB, manufacturer of tubular furniture, etc. The agricultural potential of the Champagne Berrichone region should enable increased development of the food industry which already enjoys a strong presence with Malteries Franco-Suisses, Minoteries Cantin and Agroberry.
