The second largest economic centre in Indre

Issoudun is a dynamic town in the heart of a population centre which includes over 30,000 inhabitants. The town is a member of two associations of communes: the Community of Municipalities of the Issoudun Area (CCPI) and the Region of Issoudun and of Berry Champagne. The Community of Municipalities of the Issoudun Area is the second largest economic centre in Indre and the fourth in the whole of Berry.

The town has always been renowned for the quality of its products (leather goods, agricultural produce...), and has become a modern industrial centre with a strong emphasis on exports.

The leather industry is still strong, thanks to the establishment of the luxury leather goods group LVMH (Vuitton). The textile trade is also represented, with a number of small specialist industries (Regeltex, SOMECO, etc.)

Production goods industries are also present, in aeronautics with SICMA-AERO-SEAT - the world's third largest aircraft seat manufacturer - or businesses such as AMCA-NOVAL, Europe's leading manufacturer of trailers, Spengler, a manufacturer of medical appliances or SOCOMETUB, a tubular furniture producer.

The agricultural potential of Berry Champagne ought to enable greater growth in the food processing sector, which is already present through the Franco-Suisses malt houses, the Cantin flour mills or Agroberry.
